Patients & Advocacy

We Push Beyond the Impossible to Unleash the Potential of Patients and Those Who Support Them

At Ionis, our commitment to improving the futures of people living with serious diseases inspires and informs us as we discover, develop and deliver new medicines to people who need them.

As we embark on developing a new medicine, we bring patients and their families in early and often so we can truly understand their experiences, challenges and needs.

Patient Advocacy Team

Our Patient Advocacy team collaborates with advocacy organizations to build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships throughout all stages of therapeutic development. Through these partnerships, we gather diverse perspectives and develop impactful programs that help advance our research. As our pipeline continues to grow and our investigational medicines move closer to patients, we will expand our advocacy network and efforts to ensure that we continue integrating community perspectives into the work we do.

In addition to advocacy organizations, we also collaborate with patients and their families to create and provide resources, education and support to empower patients as they navigate their disease journey.

Every day, we work in partnership with advocates, patients and their families toward our goal of making a substantial difference in their lives so they can make their own mark on the world.

The Ionis "WHY"

“Ionis is at the forefront of science and medicine – we’ve learned that innovation must be tightly connected to the needs of patients to have the kind of impact we are seeking.

– Jeff Smith, Executive Director, Patient Advocacy

Our Community Collaborations

The issues that are most critical to patients and their families inform and inspire our work. By gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to live with a disease, we have a better appreciation of the impacts of disease and can focus our resources where we can make the most meaningful contributions.
